I thought their bad paint problems were a thing of the past. This is my parents 08 Civic and Ive seen a black Si model of the same year with the same problem. We have had the car for 2 or so years now and it was just starting to happen then. Would wrapping just the roof with black vinyl wrap be a ridiculous idea? I dont want it to get worse.

If you're thinking of vinyl wrapping it, just plastidip it. The vinyl is actually more expensive.

forgot about plastidip being an option.

I agree with 'Wagen. If you're just covering up the damage, I would Plasti-Dip it. 1-2 cans depending on the coverage you do.

from what i've been told wrt paint oxidization, vinyl wrapping is just putting a bandaid over something infected.

the paint and likely the metal underneath are now oxidizing. You have to make sure you treat it before putting vinyl on top. otherwise when the viynl comes off and theres a large amout of rust underneath, you'll know why.

And.. lots of cars have this... just means your car has never been garaged. Some manufacturers have a warranty on the paint. I had a 05' Hyundai Tucson do the same thing.

I'm pretty sure there was a recall for that issue on black hondas, might want to check on that.... no joke, we did a bunch of them.

I'm just surprised this is happening on a car that's only 7 years old. I've had the car coated in 2 coats of wax for most of the time we have owned it.

Wow complete clear coat failure. Definitely vinyl wrap it after cleaning it well because it'll just get worse, to be fair Honda paint sucks ass so don't blame anyone but them.

This happened on my 2010 civic. Dealership took care of it for free even though my car's color wasn't on a service bulletin that was put out for this exact thing. Never hurts to ask!

Not quite a recall, but a TSB. Basically Honda admitting there's an issue, but it's not life-threatening enough to become a recall. Any Honda Dealership you have a good standing with might cover that for you.

My friend with an '08 civic si sedan worked at Honda Canada and he said that there was a recall for the black paint on those cars. Not exactly sure which years have the recall but he got his resprayed for free. You should check it out at a dealership

My 94 accord commuter is like that, sage blue or something. But I don't care about it. My good cars are covered.
